Cancellation and refund policy

  • Refund conditions vary according to the product sold and administrative fees apply. All prices are before taxes and in Canadian dollars. Prices are subject to change without notice. Products and services are always billed at the rates in effect at the time of purchase. Cancellation periods are in calendar days.
  • The Institute of Financial Planning reserves the right to modify its cancellation and refund policy at any time.

Professional development Bundles (regular or unlimited)

  • Cancellations and refunds: No refunds will be issued once a product or service has been activated (e.g. training registration). No charge will be applied if cancellation is requested within 30 days of purchase. No refunds will be given for cancellations made 31 days or more after purchase.
  • Terms: The Bundle is valid for the current continuing education cycle, i.e. from December1, 2023 to November 30, 2025, and includes 20 hours of continuing education. A Bundle not used in whole or in part cannot be transferred to a subsequent cycle. It can be used to register for IPFP, SFPA, SC and SC-FP continuing education activities offered by the Institute. It cannot be applied to any Programme de spécialisation. One hour of continuing education equals one continuing education unit (PDU). It includes free registration for the PDU questionnaires that accompany each issue of La Cible magazine. Registration for these PDU questionnaires does not reduce the number of continuing education hours in the regular Bundle. A Regular Bundle cannot be converted into an Unlimited Bundle, and an Unlimited Bundle cannot be converted into a Regular Bundle.

Professional development

  • Cancellations and refunds for face-to-face or virtual classroom training activities: A fee of $94 plus taxes applies if you cancel an activity within 7 days of the course date. No refunds or discounts will be given for cancellations on or after the course date.
  • Cancellations and refunds for web-based training activities (asynchronous) : No refunds are given once the activity has begun. The activity will be refunded free of charge if cancellation is requested within 30 days of the purchase date. No refunds will be given for cancellations made 31 days or more after purchase.
  • Terms: The amount paid for a professional development activity cannot be deducted from the purchase price of a Regular or Unlimited Bundle once the activity has been purchased.
  • Right of cancellation: The Institute reserves the right to cancel a professional development activity if the number of registrations is insufficient.

Professional development Specialization Program

  • Cancellations and refunds: A cancellation fee of $94 plus taxes applies to the Specialization Program within 7 days of the first virtual class. No refunds will be given for cancellations on or after the day of the first virtual class.
  • Terms: The Bundle (regular or unlimited) cannot be applied to the purchase of the Specialization Program.
  • Right of cancellation: The Institute reserves the right to cancel a program if the number of registrations is insufficient.

Financial Planning Discovery Path and Executive Program

  • Cancellations and refunds: No refunds will be given once a course module has been started. The module will be refunded free of charge if cancellation is requested within 30 days of purchase. No refunds will be given for cancellations made 31 days or more after purchase. In the event of a failed exam, a fee of $220 plus taxes will be charged for each retake. If the conditions you agreed to when booking your appointment are not respected, a modification or cancellation fee of $40 plus taxes will be charged. This fee must be paid before booking a new exam appointment.
  • Terms: The module must be completed within 6 months of purchase. After this date, you must re-register and pay the fees.

Simplified path for CFP holders

  • Cancellations and refunds: No refunds will be given once a course path has been started. The course will be refunded free of charge if cancellation is requested within 30 days of purchase. No refunds will be given for cancellations made 31 days or more after purchase. Two attempts are allowed to pass the exam. If you fail after two attempts, you will be required to re-register for the course. If the conditions you agreed to when booking your appointment are not met, you will be charged a modification or cancellation fee of $40 plus taxes. This fee must be paid before booking your next exam appointment.
  • Terms: The path must be completed within 6 months of purchase. After this date, you must re-register and pay the fees.

Equivalency exam

  • Cancellations and refunds : No refunds are issued once the exam has begun. The exam will be refunded free of charge if cancellation is requested within 30 days of purchase. No refunds will be given for cancellations made 31 days or more after purchase. If the conditions you agreed to when booking your exam are not met, you will be charged a modification or cancellation fee of $90 plus taxes. This fee must be paid before booking your next exam appointment.
  • Conditions: There are no retakes for the equivalency exam. The exam must be completed within 6 months of the date of purchase. After that date, you must re-register and pay the fees.

Professional Training Course

  • Cancellations and refunds: A fee of $90 plus taxes applies to cancellations made between the day of registration and 3 days after the second virtual class on your schedule. File opening fees and the purchase of La Collection de l’Institut are non-refundable. No refunds will be given after the third day following the second virtual class on your schedule.
  • Right of cancellation: The Institute reserves the right to cancel a class if the number of registrations is insufficient.

Other products and services

  • Other products and services offered by the Institute (job posting, La Collection de l’Institut, application processing fees, etc.) are non-refundable.
