Course overview

Description
This course covers the recent tax changes introduced in the 2024 budgets, as well as measures related to the Basic Income program and the Social Solidarity program. It places particular emphasis on the Disability Tax Credit and examines the operation, optimization and impact of the Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP), using concrete financial examples. The training also addresses estate planning for parents of children with disabilities, presenting the different types of trusts and their effects on the beneficiaries’ financial situation.
This training activity, offered in French and English, consists of one hour of asynchronous preparatory work and a four-hour virtual class.

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

Understand the key tax changes introduced in the 2024 federal and provincial budgets.

Identify the features of the Basic Income program introduced in 2023 and the Social Solidarity program, and make the connection with the RDSP.

Explain the characteristics, advantages and benefits of the Disability Tax Credit and the RDSP.

Maximize available grants and take into account the impact of social benefits related to the RDSP.

Identify estate planning opportunities available to parents of a child with a disability.

Distinguish between the different types of trusts and possible rollovers in order to recommend the most appropriate solutions.

Effectively support your clients, or their family members living with a disability, using concrete examples.
